Dukes Sounds of Jazz

Thursday nights belong to the Dukes Sounds of Jazz mob, sometimes paying tribute to Jazz greats such as Chet Baker and Thelonious Monk, but on occasion just displaying their talent in the dark art of Jazz. With the first half of the night being a house band, the second half welcomes any cats looking for a jam, so if you know your way around a trumpet or a trombone, set of ivories or a saxophone, come join in the fun! Every Thursday from 8:30pm.

Thursday 21st September - AKU!

This Thursday sadly sees the end of Scat 23 presents Dukes Sounds of Jazz, with "AKU!" A sax-bone-drums trio featuring three of our favourite players who seem to be the next generation of contemporary Jazz players really pushing the genre to its limit. Featuring Harry Weir on Tenor/Bari sax, Liam Shorthall on the 'bone and bass and Graham Costello on drums. These three performers have left staff and punters stunned with near-enough every performance in the bar. A fitting end to the "Sounds of Jazz" programming.
